Counselling and Guidance

Diploma in Counselling and Guidance is a 1-year professional program curated for working adults or individuals majorly concerning to academic institutions. The program aims at providing advanced skills and insights to understand a child’s behaviour and reaction pattern.

The diploma course involves extensive knowledge and skills to assess and analyse the problems related to social interactions, and ways to effectively resolute the concerning issues through dynamic techniques. The program is divided into two phases, covering the concepts of guidance principles, career information and development, appraisal techniques and strategies in its initial phase, and followed by action guidance, skill development and basic stats in guidance and counselling in the later phase.

Students are further exposed to varied aspects like psychology, social work, special education, etc. On career front, an emerging demand of certified professionals has widened the work opportunities in the areas like academic institutions, research organisations, business management and consultancy services, etc. Typical work profiles include counsellor and lecturer.

Admission to the program is based on merit. A no. of institutes conducts an entrance exam or review, followed by an interview as an additional eligibility criterion. Minimum eligibility – A candidate must have obtained bachelor’s degree with a minimum score of 50% from a recognized university. Few institutes require master’s degree or relevant work experience depending upon the credibility.
